Distribution Group does not appear in Global Address Book.

Check list.

Cause is drilled down either client side or server side.

First verify weather this is client side issue.

  • Check GAL from OWA, if there is address appear then distribution group already registered in server side, but somehow not appear in Client GAL.
  • You can check "All groups" for client side, "All groups" reload the Address book from server, if you find distribution group, then client issue.

If it is client side, you can take two active options and one passive option.

Here is two active options,

  • Update Address book from "Send and Recieve". Make sure disable "incremental download".
  • Delete Offline address book from personal folder then open GAL.

If above options do not work, then here is passive option.

  • Just leave it is maybe three days.

Sometimes, it simply take sometime to sync between Exchange server and outlook. There is problem in the past that particular user does not appear in address book, so many things I have tried but never worked, then after one week, without any action, user appears in GAL.
